  • Having witnessed the latest controversy regarding CNN and President Donald Trump, I found myself partially amused yet partially frightened by the actions taken by the news corporation. I am not out to defend the character of our president or the Reddit user who originally posted the video of Trump wrestling a man covered by the CNN logo.

The video is obviously a joke, and to warp a video of the president wrestling on a notoriously fake show against a corporate logo into a supposed threat of violence against journalists is blatantly dishonest. Is it OK for Trump to be tweeting this? Maybe not. But at least in this example, CNN seems to be more out of line than our commander in chief.

The Reddit user conveniently apologized one day after CNN attempted to contact him. This, paired with CNN’s ominous statement that it “reserves the right to publish his identity,” creates a disturbing picture. It tarnishes its own reputation by making such threats, which cross lines morally and legally.

  • The Fake News is becoming more and more dishonest! Even a dinner arranged for top 20 leaders in Germany is made to look sinister!

  • Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell put off plans to hold a vote on the bill to repeal Obamacare. (July 17, 1A, “Vote delay may benefit GOP foes of health bill in Senate”)

The delay will allow Sen. John McCain, who is at home recovering from the removal of a blood clot above his left eye, time to recover from surgery presumably covered by Obamacare (unless he gets his care from the Veterans Affairs).

When McCain returns to Washington, D.C., he could be the swing vote needed to end the very plan that just saved his eyesight. The irony is delicious.

And I can only imagine what the surgery would have cost if McCain had one of those junk insurance policies proposed by Sen. Ted Cruz.

Note from KBJ: When Ron Fugate loses his ObamaCare, he'll wish he had "one of those junk insurance policies proposed by Sen. Ted Cruz." Note that what Ron calls a "junk" insurance policy is a policy that covers only what one needs. Rush Limbaugh had a great analogy yesterday. Imagine paying only for the cable-television channels that one wants, rather than dozens that one doesn't want. Ron Fugate would call this a "junk" cable plan.
