  • I saw Ted Wheeler's press conference about the MAX stabbing and his call for the federal government to revoke the permit for the "alt-right." Two issues: we need to stop calling these groups by their rebranded name. They are neo-fascists and white supremacists—the government and the Oregonian needs to use these descriptors to describe these hate groups.

Secondly, it is wrong to try to silence this group. This is what they want so they can claim that the mainstream is "intolerant." Let them hold their rallies but don't cover it, don't counter-protest and definitely don't confront them. If it's 20 guys shouting at the air it's not news. In short don't give the neo-fascists the attention they crave.

Note from KBJ: You're real good at name-calling, Tom. Argumentation? Not so much.

  • Bicycle 8I had a good month on the bike. Today's ride of 35.2 miles gives me 524 miles for May (in 15 rides), which is an average of 16.9 miles per day and 118.3 miles per week. I saw a rabbit and several squirrels today, but no snakes or bobcats. I talked recently to the man who monitors and manages the bobcat population in River Legacy Park. He told me that there were more than 30 bobcats at one point, but only six now. That's sad. He seems to know each bobcat as an individual. When I mentioned that a bobcat had come up to me while I was eating my cheese crackers, he knew exactly who she was. He said she's a 13-year-old and that her den may have been destroyed by construction workers. I asked how long bobcats live, and he said as long as 20 years. They're capable of breeding the entire time. What're y'all doin' for exercise?

  • Hopefully Republican Senators, good people all, can quickly get together and pass a new (repeal & replace) HEALTHCARE bill. Add saved $'s.
