  • To the Editor:

Re “Senate G.O.P. Opens Fight Over Obama Health Law” (front page, Jan. 5):

Given that the Republicans in Congress have offered nothing more than the lies of their own manufactured outrage to justify the haste and glee with which they are about to dismantle Obamacare, their actions can only be seen as a final act of political retribution against a president they never accepted or planned to work with in good faith.

The fact that more than 22 million people may lose access to health coverage as a result of this act of political callousness only cements the perception that the Republican Party is a morally and ethically bankrupt party that cannot be trusted to govern or participate responsibly in our democracy.

Note from KBJ: Stop hyperventilating, Michael. Nobody will lose access to health coverage. It would be a public-relations disaster for the Republican Party and for Donald Trump in particular. More people will have health care in four years than have it today, and it will be cheaper than ever. Write it down. And in the meantime, stop being a dick.

  • I take back all the bad things I've said about Barack Obama for the past eight years. The Community Organizer, Messiah, Magic Negro, and Thug in Chief has all but destroyed his own political party. By the way, it's clear from the context of many of the remarks in the video that the speakers meant "devastated" rather than "decimated." The latter means to kill every tenth member of. Obama did far more than destroy 10% of his party. There's virtually nothing left of it!

  • Here is a column about free trade, a.k.a. globalization, which is a scam by international elites to destroy the livelihoods of ordinary, hard-working people. Ordinary, hard-working people finally realized that they've been (and are being) bilked. The party's over, elites. Prepare to disgorge your ill-gotten gains.

  • Bobcat2Brrr! Today's bike ride was more like downhill skiing (or snowmobiling). The wind chill when I left my house was 29º. It had fallen to 27º by the time I returned, mainly because the wind increased from 15 to 18 miles per hour. I was well dressed, so I didn't get cold. I came close to hitting a bobcat while on the trail. There's a zigzag in the trail that I take at high speed. As I leaned, I sensed a bobcat to my right, only inches from me. I'm glad he didn't dart toward me, or both of us would be in bad shape.
