The Fake News Media wants to stay as far away as possible from the Ukraine and China deals made by the Bidens. A Corrupt Media is so bad for our Country! In actuality, the Media may be even more Corrupt than the Bidens, which is hard to do!

To the editor:
The old left-wing saw about liberals working for the greater good and conservatives being driven by fear and selfishness is a broad-brush assessment of a much more complicated definition. But Scott Jennings unintentionally reinforces that adage at the end of his op-ed article warning of the perils of impeachment.
He asks if any of the politicians involved in driving this process “spend any time worrying about me,” like lowering my taxes, improving my roads and protecting my neighborhood from crime.
Unfortunately, he misses the biggest worry of all—our country being driven off a cliff by an individual utterly ignorant of the fundamentals of government, the role of a president and the rule of law.
“Worrying about me”? You’re darned right my Democratic representatives are worrying about me. Their efforts are very much appreciated.

Yesterday evening, Katherine and I watched Ad Astra (2019) at a local theater. It stars the now middle-aged (55) Brad Pitt as an astronaut. I've seen Pitt in at least three movies (including A River Runs Through It and Legends of the Fall) and liked him in all of them. (The spy movie with Robert Redford was confusing, but maybe I was just tired when I watched it.) Ad Astra has action scenes (such as a wild "car" chase on the moon), and even a bit of horror (the aggressive primates on the mayday ship), but it's a thoughtful movie as well, with Pitt struggling to reconnect with (and perhaps exceed the accomplishments of) his estranged father. I recommend the movie to anyone who likes serious adult fare. Most movies these days seem to be produced for children or adult fantasists. Here is the trailer.

Yesterday afternoon, at a Shell station in Euless, Texas, I paid $2.359 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. With my Kroger card, it came to $2.259. What're y'all payin' in your neck o' the woods?

As an old fanatic grammarian, I think I can safely say that there is one word in President Trump’s telephone conversation with Ukraine’s President Zelensky that unquestionably reveals collusion. I direct readers to Thursday’s Globe, page A6, paragraph two, regarding the transcript of Trump’s conversation with Zelensky. Zelensky has just suggested that he needs more US aid, to which Trump replies: “I would like you to do us a favor, though.” The operational word is “though.” If this doesn’t qualify as a request for a “quid pro quo,” I’ll eat my grammar book.
