  • Mad Max (1979)A few days ago, Katherine and I watched Mad Max (1979) on DVD. I watched this movie (or at least a large part of it) many years ago on cable television. The first thing that jumped out at me was how young Mel Gibson looked. As for the movie itself, I enjoyed the futuristic (dystopian) landscapes and the weird characters. The plot was simple (bordering on simplistic): good-guy cop loses partner, wife, and child to miscreants; quits his job; hunts down the perpetrators. The perps are portrayed as sadistic, which makes it all the more satisfying when they get their comeuppance. We plan to watch the other four Mad Max films soon (the fourth of which does not star Gibson). I own the second film on DVD and need to acquire the third and fourth.

    Here is the trailer.

  • To the editor:

Why has President Trump been so persistent in attacking Justice Department special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, denying “collusion” with the Russians on election interference, and now saying that the sentencing memo for his former personal attorney Michael Cohen “totally clears” him?

    Really? Of what?

If the president had confidence all along that he was not involved in illegal activity, he wouldn’t be spending so much time attacking prosecutors and denying wrongdoing. A law-abiding patriot would instead be supportive of the investigation into foreign interference in our election.

Methinks Trump is fearful of being found out. For what, we shall see, but he doesn’t act like a law-abiding citizen.

  • James Comey just totally exposed his partisan stance by urging his fellow Democrats to take back the White House in 2020. In other words, he is and has been a Democrat. Comey had no right heading the FBI at any time, but especially after his mind exploded!
