  • I was wrong in my prediction that Roy Moore would win. Before the vote, I told Katherine that the Democrats blew a chance to win the seat by not putting up a decent candidate (one who, for example, didn't support abortion rights). I guess I had it backward: the Republicans blew a chance to win the seat by not putting up a decent candidate (one who, for example, didn't have personal baggage). Roy Moore has served his state well for a long time. He needs to disappear from public life.

  • To the editor:

Among the many actions taken by President Trump that made him an unwelcome presence at an opening ceremony for Mississippi’s new civil rights museum was his ride into office powered by his hatred of President Obama. (“'Mr. President, we don’t need you in Mississippi.' Protests as Trump speaks at new civil rights museum,” Dec. 9)

He spent years spreading the lie that Obama was not born in this country, and as president, he is obsessed with wiping out every one of his predecessor’s achievements. He appears to be consumed by anger at the fact that he, a white man, is outclassed by Obama, a black man, whose gentlemanly demeanor, intelligence and calm show Trump up at every turn.

Sadly, Trump has found an audience of similarly inclined people who will support him no matter what. But he had incredible gall to show up at the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

  • Wow, more than 90% of Fake News Media coverage of me is negative, with numerous forced retractions of untrue stories. Hence my use of Social Media, the only way to get the truth out. Much of Mainstream Meadia has become a joke! @foxandfriends

  • As we approach the one-year point in the Trump presidency, a majority of Americans are increasingly angry that he is so intent on destroying our country by any and every means he can. Impeachment couldn’t come soon enough, but I fear it would already be too late.

For me, the tax bill is the final straw to precipitate this letter. Our prevaricator in chief couldn’t persuade Congress to repeal and replace Obamacare, so, collaterally to the tax bill, it will be torpedoed with no replacement in sight (with repeal of the individual mandate). We suffer increased wildfires and storms, but he continues to deny science and pulls us out of the Paris accord. The list seems endless.

I predict that Donald Trump will be the downfall of America.

If it is illegal to shout “fire” in a crowded theater because of the harm it would cause, then why is it legal for Fox, Rush Limbaugh and their unscrupulous colleagues to spew their partisan lies, destroying a whole country instead of just a theater? How could so many people have allowed themselves to be snookered into thinking Hillary Clinton was the liar of the two? Can we ever “Make America Think Again”? Or is it already too late with so much misinformation out there?

The tax bill is a giveaway to the rich and will add more than a trillion dollars to the deficit. Do I hear ruminations about going after Social Security and Medicare to pay that down? It’s becoming ever more clear that the tax cuts never intended to pay for themselves in economic growth. It was your retirement programs they were after all the time!

Reverse Robin Hood all the way. What ever happened to the proverbial “American dream”? I’m glad I’m old.

  • The people of Alabama will do the right thing. Doug Jones is Pro-Abortion, weak on Crime, Military and Illegal Immigration, Bad for Gun Owners and Veterans and against the WALL. Jones is a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet. Roy Moore will always vote with us. VOTE ROY MOORE!
