  • Destroyer (1976). This song came up randomly during my bike ride this afternoon. What a gem! Listen to the bass guitar near the beginning and to Ace Frehley's short but exquisite guitar solo starting at 1:40. Peter Criss's stuttering drums coming out of the guitar solo are perfect.

  • CNN is a joke. Day after day, week after week, the network's "reporters," "anchors," and "analysts" run down President Trump. Sometimes four or eight people are on the screen at the same time, bashing in unison, each trying to outdo the others. The modus operandi is to distort what Trump said (in a Tweet or otherwise) and then act outraged. "What a pig!" "What a liar!" "What a buffoon!" "How did such a racist / sexist / xenophobe / homophobe / pervert / bigot / jingoist get elected?"

Barack Obama got the benefit of the doubt. When he said something, CNN and other media outlets put the best spin on it, which made Obama look good. Donald Trump gets the detriment of the doubt. When he says something, CNN and other media outlets put the worst spin on it, which makes Trump look bad (if not downright evil). Fortunately, the people who voted for Trump either don't watch CNN at all or, if they do, they know what's going on. Trump has a higher favorability rating than the mainstream media. Perhaps the media don't realize this. By bashing Trump, they increase the likelihood of his re-election in 2020.

  • Trump apologists claim Santa Cruzans fail to recognize his accomplishments. Please, unlike most conservatives, offer specific details. To date, we have only witnessed legislative failures, executive orders dismantling environmental protections, and the undermining of the Affordable Care Act, placing many Americans’ lives in jeopardy. Trump’s tax plan will enrich billionaires, increase the national debt and endanger the lives of average Americans. Recent letters by his blind followers continue to divorce fact from fiction. One letter states, “In Santa Cruz it is fashionable to bash Trump.” The writer continues that Trump offered to write a check to the father of a slain soldier and lambasted progressives for not giving him credit. Turns out, of course, he never sent the check until the New York Times reported on it. Dictators are the champions of accusing journalists of spreading “fake news” and this is right out of the Putin playbook.
